Every year in the winter months, the people of Mantel celebrate the coming of the blood moon with a festival of lights.
From early November until the end of January, they string colorful lights along the coast that can be seen from miles away.
I took this photo on the night of the winter solstice when the blood moon is at its reddest and brightest.
Every lantern in Mantel was lit as wells as lanterns in the small towns along the coast and even on the fishing boats out at sea.
